The epitaph of The Voodoo Posse

March 3rd, 2005 – May 5th 2009

Suckit Bitches! The interesting thing about an Epitaph is that there are no synonyms for the word. It is the final in chapter, the last things said; yet ironically enough, often signifies new beginnings! So with that comes the epitaph of the oldest guild in Uther realm, which reads as is stated on this site entire. Feel free to digest it in full, but know that there is still so much more that can and should be said, which probably one day will be. Whether it’s being spoken by you, over heard by them, shared by another, or read in some random publication that you just might see at your local bookmart; our reputation has immortalized us, and will continue to proceed us. With every comment, you will honor that memory and recall what it was to be among the most communal, structurally successful and certainly entertaining guild this realm had seen.

And still, all things must come to an end. Better that end be of choice rather than under the hands of cause and effect. Our four year social experiment has culminated into a new venture entirely that lends itself to the experiences we all had and shared. That’s what you take with you. Whether your stay with us had been one of the fool, folly or fortune, it will remain a part of you as it is a part of all of us. It’s not something you’ll ever part with… and that makes me smile as I walk calmly in the presence of others doing the same, and into another successful endeavor.

Where the streets have no name...Before I go… allow me to leave you in the midst of our fourth annual and final anniversary gathering under the banner of the Voodoo Posse! An event broadcast live from Portland Oregon’s Hotel Fifty, where our tab exceeded your monthly salary...

The Wrath of the Voodoo Posse

Welcome Home. Welcome to the Voodoo Posse! And so it begin anew...

Our story begins in late February of 2005, when the snow was still melting off the branches and forming icy pearls that would later litter ground floor; a portent of things to come some three years later perhaps... Yet this was a time of new beginnings for several who were looking for a new virtual experience, and for ten minds who met under the influence of a single troll shaman, so began that experience.

Just after the ides of March, on the the 28th day there would come into virtual existence the entity that some four years later you still know as the Voodoo Posse. A small group of player killers who unknowingly entered Azeroth with no idea that the future would bring them the largest and oldest PVE guild that Uther’s Realm has had the pleasure of entertaining.

Feel free to look to this page to delve deeper into our history as those amongst us bear witness to this legacy, and those with us continue forward into the future. Voodoo Posse is a community like no other, and on behalf of that community, we salute you.

Our Fourth year, 2009!

Blizzard has been kind to those with lives outside of the World of Warcraft; kind to those who’s attention spans outlast the reach of their arms length; kind to those who are not fickle with short term rewards; and kind to those who don’t need a video game to measure their self worth. In short, Northrend and Blizzards third expansion to Warcraft has rewarded the casual guilds of all realms. The Voodoo Posse is such a guild and at February start of the same year, with no former expeience in the 40 player Naxxramus instance, twenty-five Voodoo Posse mates downed Sapphiron and have since done it several times over with limited Frost Resistance; soon to make achievement.

Sapheron died to VP on February 12th, 2009

Before March and just after a four hour Naxxramus sweep we made a second successful attempt and rid the place of Kel’Thuzad and his foul presence!

Kel'Thuzad died to VP on February 26th, 2009 Our initial attempt at Malygos was not bad, but neither was it a success. We have work to do there, but have left Obsidian Sanctum and Archivon in our wake several times over. Save achievements, we consider ourselves on schedule within the parameters of the current expansion.

Exploits of Azeroth

Between 2005 and 2007, Voodoo Posse accrued and acquired a substantial player base to tackle the end-game content we wanted to see. Cankerous, Colgaar, Binker, Dallen, Drijen, Garmath, Jerky, Kahuna, Mazuren, Nemorth, Okalani, Onan, Shala, Satanis, Slymenstre, Utherdoul and Zeefire were among the notable members of that time. There were more than three times that amount of active players, but it would be a great injustice to the driving force of Voodoo Posse during this period to not have dropped those names. Together however, all of our active players allowed the Voodoo Posse to circumvent the challenges that lead us up to, and through, Nefarion’s Lair. A very exciting time for us. I've admittedly neglected some of the content from the content patches, but considering the fairly casual nature of the Voodoo Posse, and the diminished interest players seem to take once The Burning Crusade was announced, we considered these accomplishment to be quite realm worthy. We didn’t make any speed records or realm first kills, but our progress was inevitable and our legacy has no end.

Exploits of The Burning Crusade

June 4 th, 2008 Come 2007 Blizzard would introduce The Burning Crusade to us and we would soon encounter what many runners call “the wall” yet was known to us as Karazhan. A vile and inhumane thing Blizzard had done was to take the larger communities (such as our own) and force them into a zone that could house no more than 10 players at a time. Forty (40) player environments down to a ten (10) player one! The Burning Crusade would quite literally burn down the guilds of the realm as the stress level created within some guilds was simply too great for such environments to contain and quell. In other words, some chefs truly don’t belong in the kitchen… that don’t know how to cook! Not the case with our Voodoo Posse and Blizzard would eventually correct the error of their ways, and we bear witness and continue to persevere.

Karazhan, Gruul and Magtheridon would fall before Voodoo’s Birthday in February of 2008. We turn heavily to zones such as Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep, clearing half of both zones before encountering another round of player interest reduction once the expansion was announced, yet again. The pattern was not unique to us by that point, but perhaps more disappointing for the same reason and also that we had been very close to completing several encounters and simply lacked the gear and experience level that some of the interest deprived had provided.

Regardless, we look back to this time and find appreciation for it now. Not only did the pre-Wrath patch allow us a chance to see a large portion of the Black Temple and Hyjal, but the entirety was an excellent experience within the synthetic existence we call Warcraft. Many things were discovered; many challenges confronted; many surmounted; many relationships were forged as a result of these experiences; and many social inadequacies were cast aside to clear our way. It is the collection of all this knowledge that we take with us when the Burning Crusade comes to a close on the 13th of November, 12am… and our community is stronger as a result. Allow us a moment to reflect back on those times with the imagery provided below ~

Zul'aman- April 1thth, 2008 Magtheridon- March 5th, 2008 Lurker- March 20th, 2008 Hydros- April 10th, 2008 Leotheras- May 22nd , 2008 Lady Vashj- October 8th , 2008 Voidreaver- May 29th, 2008 Astromancer- Sept 16th, 2008

Our Annual Birthday Bash

Perhaps a little more synthetic then our first birthday in Azeroth that we celebrated in Vegas, February of 2008 caught the Voodoo Posse celebrating amoung the inhabitants of Shatrath City! There was much rejoicing followed by a large display of Fireworks that would kick of our third annual amazing race which was sponsored by Travelocity, of course!

Sept 16th, 2008 From Shatrath City, players would then travel through a series of check points, obtaining clues to their next destination each time. This would eventually lead them to the continent of Kalimador and ultimately, to a small fishing village off the west coast know as, the Zoram'gar. Here players would compete for the last leg of the race, and the top three would be awarded a cash prize! Sept 16th, 2008

After frolicking in the gore that we carved out from that city, where no shop was left untouched and no citizen unspoiled, we left our lasting mark so that they would not soon forget the utter annihilation we’d gifted pathetic existences. Sept 16th, 2008

Leisure Activities

The Voodoo Posse isn't just about sustainability and raiding however, we also enjoy just having fun. With an environment that satiates both the casual member and raider alike, our environment allows our members time to enjoy some of the finer aspects that the World of Warcraft has to offer; such as winning big with AH scripts; achievement runs both new and old; enjoying the cash grind; hosting assorted dungeon crawls and most definitely the good conversation that only a well honed community can provide. Every now and then we'll even go out on an expedition or two for that more unique achievement. Like the time we set out to discover The Lost City of the Dancing Trolls, Voodoo Posse's ancestral linage... with the aid of our own Mazuren and Garmath, that expedition was a success! See the images below shot in that new stunning, Technicolor ~Dancing Troll Village- shot from a free fall.Dancing Troll Village- shot from a 30mm zoom lens. The Dancing Troll VillageDancing Troll Village- shot while molesting a certain female troll who will remain unnamed.Dancing Troll Village- shot on location and in uniform.Dancing Troll Village- shot from russia. In Closing

In February of 2009, the Voodoo Posse will reach its fourth year in the World of Warcraft, and if you could see the names that originally signed our charter… you would be surprised to see seven (7) out of ten (10) players from the original charter still among our ranks. We have tried hard to create a place that could house the middle aged crowed who has real world responsibilities, with in-game aspirations and we have provided unity to those who would return the respect we strive to offer. As a result, we have been a great success within this realm and not simply for the content that we have covered, as it certainly hasn’t been as deep as some, but for the player base, relations and experiences that we have accrued, forged and shared, respectively.

It’s not something you do lightly, joining the Voodoo Posse, but you do so for its friendly community and well honed player base of elder gamers who continue to see “WoW” as something that should always be played for fun and not necessarily an all encompassing lifestyle. In other words, bring with you only what you will need to have a good time, and provide a good time for the members of your guild and leave the rest behind you. It can be that simple. Enjoy!

Thank you Uther and our loyal members.

November of our Third Year on Uther Realm

Welcome Home. Welcome to the Voodoo Posse!

Change of a season, from Digital Blasphemy.comOur story begins in late February of 2005 where I was nearly video game free when the phone rang and foretold of off-world adventures in some distant land called Azeroth. The caller some may still remember as Sukutabah, who rallied my aid for some time in hopes of getting me involved in this World of Warcraft experience. He is to blame. He played the Alliance then, and was struggling with some relations in an environment he didn’t thoroughly enjoy, but that was all to change.

A new Baron in town...Unbeknownst to him, I’d already procured the purchase of Warcraft and it had been lying dormant on the shelf since its release… his call inspired its installation however. Just under two weeks later I informed him that I had started an Undead Mage and had obtained the 40th level on the right side… The side of the Horde.

It took some convincing as I’d already had a level jump on him, but he agreed to begin anew if I’d do the same. So we settle on the Shaman class due to their PvP prowess (at the time) and primarily as great portent for the plethora of inevitable Allied passing’s to come!

We leveled quickly, sinking a good deal of time into this synthetic existence known to most as “WOW” and sometime along the way he and I and a few others began a few guilds that we parked some toons in… We had the “Adam’s Family” for our Undead and the “Mad Cows” for our Tauren, but the real project was just around the corner.

Later Sukutabah and I decided we would fabricate a larger group of likeminded and PvP include players who would remain of the Trolls persuasion as well. Having recently watch Preditor II, and engaged thoroughly with Jamaican influenced Troll toons of Azeroth… the Insane Voodoo Posse came immediately to mind. I shortened a bit; completed the Tabard and began work on a “look and feel” for what would ultimately become the Voodoo Posse’s identity. Uther’s first established Troll PvP guild, that would later be its largest guild over all.

On the 27th of March in 2005 the Voodoo Posse was formed. It took some additional convincing to get Sukutabah to agree on the GM status, but he eventually did so. What I didn’t know is that I’d be doing a great deal of work and ultimately end up with the title myself. Fortunately, over the past three years we have surrounded ourselves with some of the best personalities Uther has had to offer, and continue to welcome those in and distance ourselves from the alternate. That makes the work load a lot easier to bear. While the best personalities do not always equate to the best video gamers, they DO enable your entertainment software to remain, genuinely entertaining! So while we may not be seeing ALL the content Blizzard has to offer, the “Wow experience” remains less like work and more like play. We would not have it any other way.
The Voodoo Posse was formed... and there was much rejoicing in all of Azeroth! Even in this obscured location that you'll never ever find. Don't even bother trying.
Our Accomplishments

In our time within Azeroth and its surrounding Outlands, we have conquered a fair portion of the content that Blizzard has provided. While we remain a progressive casual guild of players, and as such still have plenty left to see… there is a great deal of success our group has obtained. We are currently engaged in the completion of Zul’Aman and have run a boss or two within its time requirements; we are working to discover the deeper segments of the Serpent Shrine Cavern; and we are currently vested in exploiting the Sunwell Plateau for all its worth. Gruul is a past time and Karazhan is run successfully be many of our members whenever they need a badge or 20… These things we enjoy.

Our Accolades

Some of our accolades go to folks who have been here with the Voodoo Posse for over two years… Garmath, Mazuren, Nemorth, Okalani, Onan, Shala and Colgaar, Zeefire, and Slymenstre! Drijen too was with the Voodoo in its infancy and back with us again. Bobsmith for his graphic work on our site and Satanis for his PHP work and site creation. Utherdoul is an information asset wherever he roams, and all these folks should be credited for helping the Voodoo Posse take shape; in addition to Binker, Cankerous, Dallen, Jerky, and even Kahuna, our most notable Hunter from the way back! While they are scarcely present any longer, they remain a source of inspiration for me today as we continue with our 3rd year were so many have left off. (Plus, Binker is the only one who “manned up” when it came to riding the “Big Shot” in Vegas where the Voodoo Posse met on its 2nd Birthday within the Realm.) But the bulk of these accolades go to the active and participating members that make up the Voodoo Posse today!

In Closing

While we have not been without our struggles over the three (3) years we have crawled, crafted and conquered; creating some divide among the more socially challenged, but a greater amount of unity between those who would return the respect we strive to offer. I'm not bad... I'm just drawn that way!It is not something you do lightly, joining the Voodoo Posse, but you do so for its friendly community and well honed player base of elder gamers who continue to see “WoW” as something that should always be played for fun and not necessarily an all encompassing lifestyle. In other words, bring with you only what you will need to have a good time, and provide a good time for the members of your guild… leave the rest behind and it can be that simple. Enjoy!

Thank you Uther and our loyal members.

The Voodoo Year Resolution.

Welcome to the new year folks… we’re pretty confident that it’s going to be a good one for the Voodoo Posse!

We’re starting strong in 2008 with a Karazhan saturated, Gruul geared, PVP rep’d and Badge Rewarded group of over forty (40) well seasoned, raid hungry players wanting to see more… and for a casual group of Posse’mates, who don’t play as often or as hard as many of our peers on this server; we’ll be starting February off not far from many of the other guilds within the Uther Realm… and I’d say that’s pretty freaking good!

The Seven Heads of the Past... do you know who's they are?

If you take a moment to consider where we are, you should consider also, were we’ve been. The past has brought us some good Voodoo Posse swag patterned by our Order yours today!own Bobsmith who is our active Art Director for the original logo work you see here today; and if "swag" ain’t your thang, there’s always the Posse’matesVoodoo Posse Mates, 2006!featured here as well, but that’s a story I’ll leave to Cankerous to share… and since he’s not with us terribly often maybe we’ll keep that one off the record for now… Also, let’s not forget to hail Satanis for the PHP work he’s facilitated her over the years and while we’re on the topic of “props from the past” $300 a bottle baby!our time within the Uther Realm has grown to nearly 3 years now (in March) and we’ve seen, played, punished, laughed with (or at) and/or otherwise engaged with a healthy portion of the individuals this server has held; of those I’d like to give a “shout out” to Irony for their first of the year Illidan defeat! That is a Horde First for our Realm and we salute you! The Currupt, Legacy of Pain and Havok who are still running and also folks we have held some combined successes with in our past. Seeds of Oblivion and Dreaded, who are no longer running, but have offered up some good players to our mix over the history of the Voodoo Posse. While not all coupling are compatible, it all builds character and makes us who we are today… as is the way of things.

So where are we and what can you expect of the Voodoo this year?! Well, check our Calendar for starters and you’ll see a full February starring back at you! Our Birth rites of March are laid out upon the obtuse plateau that awaits us, the Sunwell Plateau that is… for Voodoo Posse will celebrates its three (3) year anniversary at that time. You can expect us to conquer what we’ve left of Zul’Aman; we will explore the Serpent Shrine Cavern as quickly and deeply as we choose; we will attempt to quell Magtheradon; and we will be mindful of the fact that we race again, the Clock of Progression that will inevitably toll this year and bring us The Wrath of the Lich King!

Shade Down! Thanks Binker... you're not forgotten. If you were the whole of the Voodoo Posse submitting your resume, your cover letter would read something like this ~ Hello, I am the Voodoo Posse, I have cut my teeth on Out with the old and in with the new!the Heroic instances of the Outlands; have cleared Karazhan in under five hours and badged myself to the point I can no longer be rewarded; I have seen many sights of the Zul'Aman and have a few left to see; Gruul and I go way back, and my meer presence creates concern for him as he knows he will offer me up hisExploits of Zul'Aman coveted items before I leave him to be. That's where I've been, but I was born in Azeroth in 2005 and have more allies then I can count,December 2007 puts us back on track! and fewer adversaries then I can remember. My strengths outweigh my weaknesses, my experiences are shared and enjoyed by many and my actions speak for themselves, much louder are they then these words set before you.

We don't look to bad on paper and even better from our perspective I'm told. So from the Voodoo Posse to you... Welcome to 2008, we hope you have enjoyed the time in Azeroth and its surrounding Outlands as much as we have, and we'll be expecting it to continue!

We are Uther's Horde, 300 and growing.

Tis’ the Voodoo Season!

Present for all the Good'ol Boys and Girls!

Happy Holidays from the Voodoo Posse…

Taking a look back at what the previous year has brought us has granted me, and I’m sure many others, a certain sense of satisfaction regarding the game; our raid success; and most importantly, our NEW Voodoo community.

Ho, Ho, Whore is more like it!We’ve shared something similar in an internal forum or two, but the Voodoo Posse is a collection of like minded individuals who are more interested in enjoying the game, then churning through all its content and players at an un-enjoyable pace. We’re the same group who you’ve know; will know or once knew… only better. This next year (and a few months before hand) brings you the NEW Voodoo Posse, and we’ll be ready for both the year, and you. So on behalf of myself, and many of our officer community… thank you. You’ve made us what we are, and we like it. Cheers, and Happy Holidays!

Got DPS?!

Well… we do. Still a tad shy on healers, but compensating for that via pure muscle alone! Between recently revisiting the 25man raid and supplying Gruul with a staggering amount of DPS, easily beating out the recommended 7500/sec in the first 10 ranks alone; continuing through that, our successful Netherpsite slaughter and victorious first encounter with Akil’zon have impresses many of our raiders and critics alike.

If I’d have known things would have been running so smooth with the NEW Voodoo, I’m not sure we’d have taken so long wadding through the… uhh… “puddles” before instigating an earlier change of community. To that note, I will add a personal thanx to the crew we have now… your loyalties in a virtual world that breaks the laws of both cause and effect have been FULLY appreciated by me. I hope you have now what you want, and are lacking only that which you do not need.

I know I’ve enjoyed the ride, and look forward to the New Year.

Utherdoul, you were right... it was easy.

Voodoo does it again!

I just love posting this...Twas’ several weeks before Xmas and all through the lands, plenty of creatures were stirring… some with only 3 fingers on one hand! The Lair we sought was not new hat but old, and hopes of Gruul pudding was sadly not to behold…

Regardless of that, I wanted to thank everyone for showing up for last night and ending Maulgar’s reign. It’s been a couple months since we’ve taken a solid attempt at that zone, and this time… we have a player base that is incredibly solid; well learned; and well respected! Our over all DPS is substantially higher then when we did this in the past, and for our first serious attempt since then… I feel that a four shot on Maulgar is pretty substantial; especially given the fact that 40-50% of the raid (including our primary tanks and healers) had not yet seen this fight. That tells us one thing… ya’ll are VERY aggressive at digesting the necessary content to figure a zone and reduce its over all learning curve, easily. We will reap this reward.

Like with most “filler” toons (i.e. not a tank or a healer) I’m used to being past over on the thanx list ;}~ but I wanted to give a special shout out to Wyckied for his excellent Mage tank’age and virtually flawless performance in there. You would make both Binker and Rambonage proud as well. Also like to thank Logak and Zellok for some excellent pulling. To roughly quote one of our long term players that’s been here since the beginning “…best pull I’ve seen in there to date” ~ Obviously, our tank and healing community is to be thanked; and our DPS community as well. Putting out nearly 7k in the top seven positions alone is of worthy note! It’s an embarrassment to those who have entered this zone at our level before you, kudos for sure! Tharia… Yrus… and obviously Logak… might as well just call it a “wipe” without! Gruul at 43% was not something we even came close in previous attempts, and I you are the top three reasons for that. So it’s fortunately it wasn’t without any of you. Happy to have been there, saw that, and will be happy to return in the future.

Guess what folks… from the officer community here at Voodoo Posse to our player base, and to those within the Outlands, welcome to the 25man raid.

Weeeee’re baaaaa’hck.

Voodoo Thanksgivings!

The holiday season for the Voodoo Posse has kept us a little preoccupied; what with all the chickens to bleed and the heads to shrink… so apologies for being a bit remiss on the page updates, but I assure you it hasn’t been as a result of our inactivity, but rather due to our activity.

Our numbers are back to a healthy 30’something solid raiders who have the capability, time and interest that it takes to push forward; more then that they possess something that is scarce in an online game with no accountabilities, where talk is also cheap and actions speak louder then words… what’s that you ask? Respect for each other and integrity of character. It takes nothing more complex then that to craft a healthy community, and the Posse prefer's to surround ourselves with those of a like mind.

Speaking of activity and actions… allow me a moment to share our most recent accolades with the peers, paupers, and cynics within the Uther’s realm;

With Colgaar and Daeven at the helm, a group of ten (10) well prepared posse’mates set out to tackle Zul’Aman’s Nalorakk, or “bear boss” as many refer to him. We’d not been encountered him before, but had set foot into Zul’Aman early in the 2.3 release, just to get the look and feel of the trash (or rather to take account of the zone’s difficulty) ~ after five (5) attempts at the bear boss wearing only greens… Ok, we’re both Gruul and Karazhan geared to be honest :}~ Colgaar’s crew ended Nalorakk’s reign of terror; proving to many that it DOES NOT take Tier5 gear, but rather good communication and execution. It was not, however, completed within 20 minutes. The successful boss fight took nine (9) minutes to down him alone. We have some additional work to do there, and will be returning to hone our skills, at the expense of Nalorakk’s life and a few gold I’m sure.

For those looking for inspiration and planning to do the same, I’d suggest that if you can get beyond the BS politic'n that inevitably occurs when you have more then just ONE person in your midst; if you can focus your efforts in a positive manner; and all get on the same page with a goal… you’ll see it through.

Happy hunting Uther. We wish you good fortune and fame!

YouDoo All Hallows Eve?!

"This halloween, so unlike any other
Her final words... don't be afraid, of the green light,
Of the green light,
Green light...

On muddy ground, I'm lying drunk on her grave
Where I must wait... until she wakes
The soil splits,
Greenwood's ground will quake beneath me,
And so shall take into the earth,
To the green light,
To the green light.

The autumn air, thickly fills my lungs so sweetly,
Reminds me of her smoky breath.
With wine and this bouquet of maple and oak leaves,
In death or life we'll always be..."

...a little something for the holidays from our good friends, Type-O Negative. Happy Hallow's Eve folks!

Another Day, Another Dead Gruul... What's next?

Apologies to all our "avid" readers for being so belated with the updates, but outside of multiple Gruul clears and a dozen Karazhan runs a week, I haven't had time to sit still! Oh yeah, plus there's that whole other life thing on the other side of that glowing portal you're likely starring through right now! It's becoming increasingly difficult to tell just where the Virtual ends, and the Real begins… *knock* *knock* Neo?!

In weeks to come, Voodoo Posse will pursue Serpent Shrine. We are following in the foot steps of guilds who have come before us; with Gruul on farm status, Void Reaver is very close reality for our group, yet Tempest Keep is not a zone we want to pursue until we have thoroughly tapped Serpent Shrine Caverns. Like many others, we will begin our pursuit there with The Lurker Below, a boss that bares strange similarities with H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu creature features, I'm sure that was no accident. Regardless, this is probably our best bet. Magtheridon's Lair will likely be avoided for a bit more time, as previous attempts have given us some insight as to where we stand, but it'll soon be added back to our rotation… rest be assured.

Fracturing into Newdoo!

For over 2½ years, the Voodoo Posse and its culture have enjoyed nearly a “drama free” environment… sadly, nothing lastly forever. As such, we’ve recently lost a handful of members over some fairly trivial matters, in the estimations of many. I’m told we’re not alone here… that the curse of a casual guild as it relates to progression is often a delicate balance to maintain. While I can’t disagree, and am probably thought cold in doing so, I must say that I don’t see this as something of a loss so much as something we’ve regained. Voodoo Posse has always made its casual claims; it wasn’t until recently where our paths diverged over the l33tists and the casuals. As the pinnacle between such factions, a Guild Master is in a situation to consider both sides. I have received a good deal of praise, as well as good deal of criticism, which is something entirely fair, so long as it is productive, and certainly expected… but regardless, we have regained our healthy environment and will continue this social experiment in our synthetic world (of Warcraft) from here.

With any type of situation like this, setbacks are a factor to consider. We will be considering that factor sooner then later. Please take note of friends and/or family, or other potential “hires” i.e. /ginvites, in the days to come. Also keep in mind when doing so, that the majority of our members would prefer to insulate themselves with players and personalities that they enjoy, over those who are confined to clique behaviorisms, socially challenged, and/or generally unpleasant.

…and finally, I’d like to take a moment to thank all those members, including some of those who chose to leave, for all the support you have offered the Voodoo Posse in its years of existence within the Uther Realm. We remain, and will continue. Your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated.

Nothing Important Happened Today…

Well… Gruul died to the hand of Voodoo, I guess I should mention that. I guess… maybe?

Seriously?! Well done folks. Well done to ALL those who showed up, and not just the ones in the raid! The success of the Voodoo Posse is based largely on the education, understanding, and willingness of its members to 'do what they must' in effort to for the guild to succeed. You're fellow raider may neglect to acknowledge this... maybe it's not mentioned enough from "executive management" ~ so on behalf of both communities, I extend a large THANK YOU to our player base.

The Voodoo Posse is a collection individuals who SHOULD operate heavy machinery while playing. Any similarities to actual people, living or dead, is NOT entirely coincidental, at all. Please handle with care, and DO stick near an open flame. Many creatures WERE harmed in the wake of the successes of this guild. There IS something to see here, please linger a moment and pay homage to the Voodoo Posse at large!

The Mark of Voodoo

Day 1: Arrived at the island. Humid climate. Weather was poor and the camp took longer to construct then expected.

Day 2: Lost two men to "unique" circumstances. There is strange talk in camp, I'll not elaborate but something has this crew on edge.

Day 3: Set out on our first search today. I believe the map is accurate and we should be able to clear to the location in a few days; it would be shorter were it not for all the vomiting. Something in the water perhaps.

Day 4: Progress is going well. Sickness seems to have ebbed. Two more fatalities however. This trip is costly, but we have arrived at the dig site. I've developed a twitch in my neck, makes travel awkward. Also seems to cause temporary blackouts. May spend the evening at the site.

Day 5: Everyone has either fled or been taken into, or by, the night. Black gashes are the only noticeable feature on the bodies that remain… there is no blood. Clearly this relic is of omnipotent power… and it must be mine!

Day 6: There was no day 6.

I figured it was time for a quick site update… as someone seems to have gotten a hold of the Baron Samedi doll (featured to the right) and made a few changes. Not feeling myself lately, as a strange result… or side effect… not sure. Regardless, your friends at the Voodoo Posse are alive and well. We've seen a few changed as of late and are currently working on our 25man prowess. While Gruul is an admitted issue, the "high king" Maulgar is considered to be on farm status and coupled with the farm status present in Karazhan for all participating teams, gear saturation should occur quickly.

On a different note, we've made mention of a lot of progress with Maulgar and are attempts at Gruul are on the cusp of not being attempts any longer. With that vien, the Voodoo Posse had a full clear of Karazhan last week when Netherspite tripped over 10 Posse'mates and fell... Netherspite, if you've been paying attention, had given us some headache, and as an optional boss not too many full attempts had been made. Congratulations to the team for downing him!! Kudos for sure.

On the topic of game change, many of you may have heard or seen the recent interview with Tigole (the lead god in the virtual world you live) who made mention of where the 25man will be in the future expansion… if you have not heard, a stepping stone approach to the Wrath of the Lich King's 25man instance will be taken. In other words, strengthening our 25man raid now, will immediately pay off once this expansion hits the scene, as we will be able to take these players from where we are now, directly into a 25man zone WITHOUT the need for "keys" or other prerequisites. That is a good thing, and Blizzard is proving that they can (and are capable) of learning from the grevious mistakes of the past. Cheers to that… the game is still an infant by accounts of all previous MMORG's and it has plenty of evolving left to do. I'll be around for a good chunk of that and I hope to see you there!

...and remember, to lead, you must know first... how to spell!

...THIS JUST IN!! Some Voodoo Posse member report Gruul was down to 21 or was it, 22 percent?!

Yet another fine spanking! I recall a time when the "scripted boss fights" within the World of Warcraft required countless wipes to learn properly. Yes, that may have been for us, but times have apparently changed. Well done folks! Maulgar now lies dead at the hands of Voodoo Posse for a second time; and after only a few total attempts. It's definitely getting easier. Well played folks... and this time I was there to enjoy it! Warcheif was spared his life on several occasion, by placing him in the NONE DPS centric group too!

Couple other things… Rambownage will be stepping up his efforts to give his class and the whole of the Voodoo Posse some assistance with the 25 man raids scene. Rambo has been with us for a great deal of time; personally requested to be of more assistance to the team; and more then that… I've stared into the cold eyes of this flawless Mage playing partier, and once I recovered, saw only unerring success. We have an excellent Mage community, and Rambo's assistance in taking us to the 'next level' is not only anticipated, but appreciated! Hope ya'll will rally to his cause, because it is also ours.

For those not among the Voodoo… we're still considering our long term goals of Magtheradon, Serpentshrine Cavern's and eventually Tempest Keep. To prepare ourselves for that, the Voodoo Posse is considering players who WANT to raid and are socially capable of enjoying more then a game, but a community of well seasoned gamers. In other words, if you're the average computer nerd without any hope of adequate social interaction, don't bother to apply... Otherwise, come chat with me either here, or in game... Keep in mind that we're also in the consideration market for some casual folks who are on the PST side of the equator and enjoy late night casual runs in the Heroic modes ... Please whisper me privatly here, in-game, or wherever you can find the Voodoo!

...and remeber, to lead, you must know first how to follow.

...where's your Voodoo!?!

Hey folks... apologies for the web update delay here. Satanis and myself have both been doing some vacationing, and as much as I'd like to tell you that WOW is my only true responsibility; like most here... that isn't the case. Ask me how Montréal is doing this time of year though, and I bet I have a story or two to share!!

Regardless, I'm not sure how much Satanis is going to be updating the page; as you can see by the "noob of the week" which is apparently turning into the "n00b of the year" ... so send me your suggestions and we'll try to keep the forward page content moving... well... forward! We need some more N00b's to honor. Oh, and yes! They should be within our own ranks. Far too many options if we open them up to everyone.

Speaking of a forward momentum, as you may know, the Voodoo Posse is finally leaving the curse of Karazhan behind as we set a guild objective on Gruul's Lair. It may feel a bit late in the game for us (and it is) but technically speaking, there are not even a dozen guilds who have killed the first boss in there... Well, we never said we'd be there first, but we DID say we'd be there. There is a down side to being the of our mass ya know ;} Anyway, I hope to see ya there with us!

For those not among the Voodoo… we're still considering our long term goals of Magtheradon, Serpentshrine Cavern's and eventually Tempest Keep. To prepare ourselves for that, the Voodoo Posse is considering players who WANT to raid and enjoy playing the following Class Specification… Restoration Shaman (41 points) a Protection Spec'd Tank; another Shadow Priest and lastly a Holy Paladin. We're also in the consideration market for some casual folks who are on the PST side of the equator and enjoy late night casual runs in both Regular and Heroic modes (though heroic is prefered) ... Please whisper me privatly here, in-game, or wherever you can find the Voodoo!

...Come'get da'Voodoo'mon!

We're just coming off the 2nd quarter and, I'm happy to say, Voodoo Posse has once again, met the goals we set out to accomplish. With exceptional efforts from our tactician Utherdoul and the unfaltering direction of our own Binker, our dual team structure will soon be expanding to a third in our efforts to bleed Karazhan dry of its phat l00tz… but wait, that's not all! The 3rd quarter will see us move to a much more dynamic 25 man raid structure after we roll the three teams and see how it goes.

2nd Quarter was not without its challenges… to be fare, but then nothing worth waiting generally is. We struggled a bit before getting the "groove on" with the duel team structure, like many who have come to the Karazhan bottleneck before us. However, we refused to downsize and circumvented that hurdle successfully and are now two team Karazhan capable, and growing.

For those not among the Voodoo… we're looking at the long term goals of Magtheradon, Serpentshrine Cavern's and eventually Tempest Keep. To prepare ourselves for that, the Voodoo Posse is considering players who WANT to raid and enjoy playing the following Class Specification… Restoration Shaman (41 points) a Protection Spec'd Tank; another Shadow Priest and lastly a Holy Paladin.

"…and now for my final act…" I'd also like to publicly congratulate Binker for all the time and effort he has poured into the Voodoo Posse over the past year. Binker has chosen to depart the World of Warcraft { no his account isn't for sale, just all his gold ;} and pursue other virtual worlds. It is because of players who play with his drive, at his level, and with his understanding of the finer, social aspects of the online community, that Voodoo Posse was able to achieve our 2nd quarter goals on time. And on behalf of all our current members, and I'm sure a few others, I'd just like to say "thank you" and wish you well on your next adventure. May it bring you the success you've experienced here, but not without its own share of challenges, cuz what's success without challenge?! Ciao man…

...now it's Nightbane who has Fallen!

Seriously... I'd appreciate ya'll slowing down a bit, because I have to update this page to often as it is! Regardless, this guy known to some as the penacle kill for Karazhan, also refered to as Nightbane has recently been added to the list of Voodoo Posse accomplishments. Congratulations, once again.

We'd like to take a moment to suggest that our members revist our 2nd Quarter goals, as things are moving along despite some and inspite of others, but certainly to the glory of us all! I'd also encourage our members to note the survey; and our momentum towards an improved two team approach; and lastly, maybe a weeks deviation as we go say "ciao" to Gruul. I feel like the time has come for an appropriate welcome. No?

NightbaneNightbane's End

The Prince Has Fallen!

He tripped over the Voodoo Posse. The boss known as Prince Malchezaar has recently been added to the list of Voodoo Posse conquests. Congratulations Incuratus on the Voodoo Posse's first T4 helmet. Very well done!

Teh gay PrinceMany thanks to all those who continue to show up and support the guilds objectives with positivie energy and a williness to succeed. An obvious special thanks to those who offered to take a bench while the Karazhan group pushed through to this objectives end. It is something we can't really stress enough... Karazhan is a guild killer... you have heard this before. Take a moment to consider the size of most guilds as they entered the Outlands; most successful ones were at par and outfit to run the 40 player raids. The Voodoo Posse was no different. hoofLike most guilds who discovered the bottleneck Karazhan created, we were faced with the two options... and the path we chose was to keep our player base and those among us know it was perhaps not the easy road to take, but we've never been a fan of what comes easy. So with Karazhan's end in sight, take a moment to reflect on that choice, and know... the Voodoo Posse cares.

Horse'n'aroundSeriously folks, we do appreciate your understanding and the fact that you continue to show up. We are on track to complete this zone before July's end and will move into the 25 player raid mode with Karazhan behind us as soon as possible. Thank you all.

It "take" Brain Power to own Karazhan & keep your guild intact!

I could go on and on about how poorly we've been treated by our loving hosts of the Outlands (in fact, I think I have in our forums already) but I'll save you that negative energy and simply let you all know this: for those who continue to show up to our Guild Event Night; for those who WANT TO RAID; for those who continue to put the end-game goals ahead of their own... Kudos! You have made the progress we have seen in Karazhan, a reality.
BrainPower
As Voodoo Posse continues its push through Karazhan, there will likely be some additions and subtraction as we change gears and prepare for Patch 2.1.0.. Expect it. Some say you can't please them all, and shouldn't try. Well, we try all the same. That's what gives the Voodoo Community the strength it has held for the last 2+ years. We give it our best shot... and as I seem to recall, the last time we did that, some dumb@ss dragon fell over dead... what was it's name again?! Oh yeah! Good ol'Nefarian. Those were the days... 40 man raids... plenty of room, void of any 10 player "key" zones too!

But alas, I digress... If the Karazhan experience has seemed an unfortunate headache that you could have done without... If you've happened to take note of all the others around you struggling with the same issues... If all you're left to wonder is why the large guilds have crumbled into smaller "Karazhan Teams" ... Well, allow me share this little fact provided by one of our elite members ~ "Vanguard Elite (full props) on the Alliance side is the only guild (on Uther) to have beaten any bosses past Gruul and Magtheridon after 5 months into the expansion." ~ and that's just a little silly! I mean... com'on!?!

All these issues and once you manage to get into Karazhan, well the term "epic" seems to have lost all meaning in that place. This too has to change. So we watch, wait and listend for The Whisper that tells us of the word on the street... and that is that Patch 2.1.0 will be our savior... let us all take a moment to pray to the deities of our virtual existence in hopes that our cries will be answered and these issues will be resolved. Certainly, don't beat yourself up just yet! It ain't easy for any of us (and I mean anyone) right now. Hang in there and don't do anything, well... just hang in there.

Congrats on another week of taking the Curator down

Binker led a strong team into Karazhan Wed night and made quick work of the Curator.

Congrat Binker on you new gloves Gloves of the Aldor and the rest on your epic upgrades (AKA barely an upgrade and higher repair bill).

We had a great week in Karazhan!

Congratulations to all those that ran Karazhan last week. We had some great progress culminating in the Curator's demise Sunday evening.

A big congrats to Devilmaycry (Armory link) for picking up the Voodoo Posse's first t4 set item Netherblade Gloves

Lets pull it together this week, get multiple groups running, and see some more progression. A little more tuning and Gruul's lair will be waiting for us and we can move past this 10 man road block and start the real raiding.

Yes, there really are some pictures

You asked for it and here they are. We've got a handful of the pictures posted for your viewing pleasure.
Who is who?Not all of the pictures are posted on this page, so I've put a zip file there with all of them. As new pictures filter in I'll add additional zip files. So if you have any pictures you would like to contribute, please email them to Ithuhato or talk to me and we'll work something out.

I've heard tell that there a couple videos as well that I will try to get.

Welcome to the New site

With the expansion and new content comes our new website. Several of the bells and whistles of the old site are gone. This version is scaled down a bit to help provide faster load times and simplified site management. Over time we hope to unify the look and feel accross the entire site so be patient with us as things change. Feel free to post suggestions and any comments in the Voodoo Lounge.

To do:
Add attachment mod to forums.
Add sub forums mod to forums.
Fix roster layout.
Fix misc broken links.
Teach Ith how to update things.

Done:
added item links to forums. For ex. Bracers of Justice

Please note that you will need to create a new login to access the forums and it will take a me a bit to get everyone grouped up. Voodoo Lounge will still be viewable by the entire world but you will need the proper group permissions to see our guild only forums.

Recovering from Las Vegas

Last week after returning from Vegas, we went into Karazhan renewed and invigorated. We went in ready to progress and we did, Moroes on 4/4 and Maiden of Virtue 4/5.

We are raiding Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6:30 - 10:00. Show up a few minutes early and be ready to pick up some phat loot.

Vegas trip photos are coming soon. If you have photos please email them to Ith or talk with me about getting an ftp site for you to copy them to.

Let the Raiding Begin

It has been well over a month since the expansion came out. We've put in a lot of time getting leveled and keyed. Last week, Tuesday 2/27, in our first guild raid since the expansion, all of our work paid off as we defeated Attumen the Huntsman.
Attumen is Dead
We had a few setbacks as we learned the fight and found that the respawn rate seemed faster than expected. OVer all we had a great run and the move towards the second boss will only get easier as we learn the mob and the quickest route.

We'll do a little work on class balance and determine what it will take to get two concurrent runs going every week. For those of you that didn't make it in the run, thanks for your patience and understanding. We'll be clearing this place before you know it.

If you are still working on your Karazhan key, check GroupCalendar for scheduled runs and also feel free to try to schedule your own. I personally won't be available for any key runs until this weekend.

We're all that... and this bag of chips! Ith's Bag of Chips!

btw... thanks Qrystal! I needed those.

Posse in Portland!

...The Rose City, smells better then most of you!
If you’re like us, your either bored or getting bored with what little this expansion has to offer. So it’s time to recharge the batteries while we wait for new content… and unlike most guilds who lack the communal specs of a healthy guild, this guild know how to party!

During the weekend of 28th a collection of thirty-some new and old individuals will come together for the fourth time in as many years, with Portland’s Rose City as our destination of choice! It’s time to re-charge, unwind and toast our success in what has become tradition.

Guilds that play together, stay together… and we don’t draw the line in the virtual sand! Can your guild do that?!

Happy 4th Anniversary VP.

Hardcore... nuff said

...120lbs of steel, ooze and power!
If the above endorsement wasn't enough to sell you on Curse and what they've done for the Warcraft community, maybe this little beauty will! I've had the pleasure of entertaining one of these systems, and I have to say that outside of the obvious OC'n that this thing is easily capable of, the system is of excellent design and very well over-engineered. My only critique is that it is not easy to work on, if you are fortunate enough to win this one, it'll be of the highest Core2 calibur and will prohibit you from having to worry about upgrades! In the event you need to crack the case open, bring a towel! The non-conductive solvent is the same chemical compound used at electrical plants in high-capacity conductor cooling, and it can be a mess. The asthetic alone makes this Hardcore system the Ferrari of the PC world; and if your CPU doesn't have the horsepower, the coolant will allow you to overclock it to the temperatures of hell and allow it to remain unscathed!!

Ulduar, a tribute to
H.P. Lovecraft?

...yet with strange æones, even death may die.
For millennia, Ulduar has remained undisturbed by mortals, far away from their concerns and their struggles. Yet since its recent discovery, many have wondered what the structure's original purpose may have been. Some thought it a city, built to herald the glory of its makers; some thought it a vault containing innumerable treasures, perhaps even relics of the mighty Titans themselves.

Such speculations were wrong. Beyond Ulduar's gates lies no city, no treasure vault, no final answer to the Titan's mysteries. All that awaits those who dare set foot in Ulduar is a horror even the Titans could not, would not destroy, an evil they merely... contained.
Beneath ancient Ulduar, the Old God of death lies, whispering.... Tread carefully, or its prison will become your tomb.

As the next step in tiered raid progression in Wrath of the Lich King, Ulduar is set to let players enjoy gorgeous setpieces, sprawling battlefields, and innovative boss encounters. Ulduar's design aims to provide a fun, unique, and innovative raid experience, and it includes additional challenges and rewards for seasoned raiders. In this sneak-peek at World of Warcraft's newest raid dungeon, we'll take a look at some of the new content that makes Ulduar stand out.

A Bottle of Voodoo!

...Suck it down! Voodoo (or Vodou) is a set of supernatural beliefs and practices found in portions of Africa and the New World, including parts of South America and the West Indies, notably Haiti. A mixture of Roman Catholicism and African polytheistic magic, it includes belief in loa, spirits that interact with humans, some of which are identified with Catholic saints. At ceremonies, the priest or priestess invokes the loa who may seemingly possess members of the vodou congregation.

The altar of a vodou temple is typically a stepped structure loaded with such varied objects as a cross, candles, a skull, sacred stones, a magic rattle, a picture of the Virgin, dolls, a little coffin, offerings of food and bottles of rum, and other items that give it baroquely ornate character. Smaller home altars are similarly bedecked.
